Who we are
Chipotle Nutrition Calculator is a free, independent nutrition information website at https://chipotlenutrition.net, run by the Nutrition Content Team. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc.
Our approach to privacy is simple: we collect as little personal data as possible. You can use our nutrition calculators without creating an account, and the meal combinations you build in the calculator are processed entirely in your browser — they are never sent to our servers or stored by us.
Information we collect
Calculator use. None. Your ingredient selections and calculated totals stay on your device.
Comments. If you leave a comment on an article, we collect the name, email address and website you enter in the comment form, along with your IP address and browser user agent string to help detect spam. An anonymised hash of your email address may be shared with the Gravatar service so your profile picture can be displayed; the Gravatar privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/.
Email contact. If you email us at hello@chipotlenutrition.com, we receive your email address and the contents of your message, and we use them only to respond to you.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics, connected through Google Site Kit, to understand aggregate site usage, such as which pages are visited most often. Google Analytics sets cookies on your device and processes anonymised usage data on Google’s servers. You can opt out using Google’s opt-out tools or by blocking cookies in your browser.
Cookies
We set very few cookies:
- If you leave a comment and tick the remember-me option, WordPress stores your name, email address and website in cookies so the comment form is pre-filled next time.
- If you log in to administer the site, WordPress sets cookies to keep you logged in and remember your screen preferences.
- Google Analytics sets its own cookies for aggregate measurement, as described above.
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings; the calculators will still work.
How we use your information
- To display comments you choose to leave.
- To reply to emails you send us.
- To understand aggregate traffic and improve the site.
- To protect the site from spam and abuse.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who we share your data with
We share data only where needed to run the site: our web hosting provider (which stores the site’s files and database), Google Analytics (aggregate usage statistics), Gravatar (only the anonymised email hash, when you comment), and automated spam-detection services that screen comments. We will also disclose data if required by law.
How long we keep your data
- Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so that follow-up comments can be recognised.
- Emails you send us are kept for as long as needed to handle your enquiry.
- Analytics data is retained according to Google’s data retention settings.
Your rights over your data
You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we process it. To make a request, email hello@chipotlenutrition.com and we will respond within a reasonable time. If you believe we have not handled your data properly, you can complain to your local data protection authority.
Data security
We take reasonable steps to protect your data, including keeping the site’s software up to date and restricting administrative access. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children’s privacy
This site is a general nutrition information resource and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top shows when it was last revised.
